Instead of buying name brand items, Costco shoppers can immediately start saving cash by shopping for items with the Kirkland Signature brand.
Julie Ramhold, consumer analyst with DealNews.com, uses the example of purchasing a Kirkland Signature maple syrup or Kirkland Signature vanilla extract. Compared to shopping elsewhere and with another name brand, you can’t beat the unit price. This is also true of purchasing other pantry staples like chocolate chips and peanut butter under the Kirkland Signature or Costco brand.

Shop the Sales
While Costco already has great prices on their products, the warehouse club also offers monthly sales in-store and online with extra savings.
Not sure which sales to shop? Ramhold recommends shopping both.
“Each sale has different items, so it pays to shop them both,” said Ramhold. “The online sales tend to have a lot of bigger items, like furniture, and the in-store sales have a bit of everything including food, beauty items, cleaning supplies, furniture and more.”

If you don’t already have the Costco app, now is the time to download and start using it during your next shopping trip.
The Costco app does more than house a digital version of your membership card. Shoppers can check out new and current promotions at Costco by viewing the Savings Panel, see the local gas prices at their nearest warehouse location, refill prescriptions through the Costco Pharmacy and access all receipts from orders and purchases.

This may not seem like a way that allows you to save 50% or more but signing up for Costco emails is one of the best ways to learn more about the latest news, promotions and special offers available to you.
If you want personalized announcements and news about recall information, Costco recommends having its members include their membership number and primary warehouse information when signing up for emails. Members also receive a physical coupon book to their residence with a new collection of savings to read and bookmark each month.
Split Packages With Friends and Family
One of the simplest ways to save 50% on anything you purchase at Costco is to find family members or friends willing to split the package with you.
“Whether it’s the new chocolate cheesecake or a bunch of boxes of macaroni and cheese, if you split the packages in half with a friend or family and they cover half the cost, you’re going to save money overall,” said Ramhold.
