Next year is going to be full of hair moments.
If the anticipation is too much for you, we have a peek at what some of these might be – thanks to expert insights.
From embracing up-dos with more confidence to going bolder and more ‘editorial’ with cuts, it’s predicted that hair trends for next year are all about making statements.
From cuts to styling, these are the key hair looks to watch out for – and give a try.
Wet hair
Syd Hayes, ambassador at BaByliss, says: ‘Wet hair was a vibe I saw a lot in the SS23 shows.
‘It always looks amazing but hard to make relative unless you’re on holidays.’
Less practical, but still doable, you can use gel for a slicked-back look, or spay styling milk onto hair without working it in thoroughly.
Box bob
A more savage cut that gives instant edginess, Syd says: ‘This is a nod to the extremely classic Vidal Sassoon 1976 Box Bob. Think Amelie meets Vidal.
‘To create sharp edge cut, use a straightener and get regular trims.’
With the rise of grungier makeup, it makes sense that hair is getting a similar treatment.
Make a statement with his harsh bob shape.
Tied up
Up-dos have always been in, but Syd predicts we’re going to see more people go for them as a chic night look.
The best part? Syd adds: ‘If your hair is a bit greasy, or if you need to switch up a look from day to night, pull it back and add an accessory.
‘It is so easy and looks seriously chic.’
Deep side parting
The side part of your teens is back – but with a smarter finish.
Syd says: ‘We all need a bit of sophistication in our life. I see a deep side parting as power hair.
‘It can range from sleek straight glass like hair with super shine, to big curls and attitude.
‘My key tools for these would have to be the Babyliss 9000 Cordless Straightner for the sleek straight look and the Hydro Fusion Hair Dryer (using the diffuser) and a curling wand for the big curls look.’
Any hair type can wear this look, which makes it even better.
