Texture, Volume And Bold Color Will Be Top Hairstyle Trends For 2023

Paul Dobbert, director of education at Keratin Complex, predicts many of 2022’s hair trends of texture and volume will continue into the new year.

“Trends with textures built in are going to be huge in the next year,” said Dobbert. “Everybody is trying to embrace texture and achieving those textures they love and see. Every trend starts with some sort of hair movement that translates into color and merging two trends together— specialty colors that coincide with the texture of the cut.”

Cuts can be borne from color trends and vice versa, he said.

“Shag color techniques come out with these cuts,” he explained. Kristin Stewart’s blonde with dark roots adds another layer to the trend and taking it the next level with an edgier cut with a color that supports that.

For the maintenance and styling of pixie cuts, Keratin Complex’s Molding Paste defines— a favorite product of Dobbert’s— defines, sculps and molds hair for styles that last day and night. The Molding Paste can also great for sharpening the ends on curtain bang short bobs, another look that will be trending in the new year.

The Curly Shag

Another trendy hairstyle expected to grow further in popularity in the new year is the Curly Shag, popularized by Zendaya, which is wet, texturized, curly hair with bangs sweeping the shoulders, will continue to shine in 2023.

The product can be crunched into damp hair following a wash, for an immediate softening effect for curly consumers to revitalize softness, he added.

“The greatness is all of our products work synergistically with each other,” added Dobbert. “For the cumulative effect – the more you use it, the better your hair will be.”
