A South Carolina man was arrested for creating a disturbance at a shopping center after authorities say he climbed through a ceiling, jumped through a window and was seen hanging by a light fixture, according to the sheriff’s office. (Video above shows the scene at the shopping center) Joseph Allen Tuten, 43, of Taylors, is charged with three counts of malicious injury to property and one count each of escape and public disorderly conduct.The situation happened around lunchtime on Tuesday at the Hartwell Village shopping center. The first call to authorities was about a man, later identified as Tuten, who walked into one of the businesses and was bleeding. The caller said the man ran out of the store, was acting erratically in the parking lot and then ran into two additional businesses. Deputies said when they arrived, Tuten was placed into investigative detention at the Marshalls location, where they saw him standing on top of a cabinet while holding onto a light fixture behind the cash registers at the front of the store. Tuten was then taken to the hospital for treatment and evaluation.Investigators said on Tuesday, when Tuten was being taken to jail from the hospital, he kicked out the window of a patrol car. Tuten was able to escape from the patrol vehicle and ran away but was taken back into custody and taken back to the hospital. He was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on Wednesday. During the investigation, it was determined Tuten did the following, according to arrest warrants: Tuten caused damage to the windows and curtains of a room at Lakeside Lodge by throwing a toilet tank cap, and himself, through a window. Tuten caused damage inside the Buff City Soap location by climbing through the ceiling space, falling through the ceiling and damaging a water pipe. Tuten made entry into two other businesses at Hartwell Village, Ulta Beauty and Marshalls.
